Dear Krista and Family and Irish Family of John, Mike and Teresa, and Alan, and brothers and sisters, we are very sorry for this terrible loss. I know how much of a dynamo of energy and spirit John has been all his life. We send you our deepest regret. I was in school with John in Cahersiveen at the CBS. He was a year ahead of me but in 5th he was convinced by the Brothers to stay on another year. I can remember football changed, we got a bit more competitive. The Story I have with Scully was that he broke his leg during the year and was running around in crutches. But still was at the field for foodball training every week. He took myself and a few others from Valentia for a bit of extra training, we did laps of the field for hardening while John was scooting around on the crutches. He was almost as fast on crutches as without. He never gave up hope that we would be good footballers at some stage. A few turned out better. I remember one of those days after training going back to get the school bus and getting picked on by some of the townies, John wasn't far way, and quick to say "you are dealing me too, so shag off....". Advice from John, "Do what you do, do well." Other stories include a summer at the FCA in Tralee. Also we did a sailing trip together on the Pre-runner to the Asgard from Valentia to Castletown Bere.
